Ignorati

There are only two things my friends and relatives always ask me during gatherings: when is the next holiday and who is the President’s currently dating. I can never be so sure how to answer them; not because of what I know, but how to say that I really don’t care. Nonetheless, I’m quite fascinated of this inherent quest to know. People do think that it’s their right to prod and comment into someone else’s personal life or dealings.

Which I think is valid, only pointless.

Take the case of a seemingly petty view by the President’s speechwriter on a host country’s culture and prepared beverage. (In fairness to the scoundrel, she never invited further controversies by reacting on the opinionators. Her principal, however, may be questioned for pulling the “she is young” card. It’s incredibly insulting to hear that someone could equate incompetence with age, when there are civil servants who are just as young but professional enough not to embarrass themselves.) Many have stopped for their two-cents on the issue but nothing was gained except the hard realization that each contributes to the rise of the ignorati.

Which I think is true, only scary.
