I chanced upon this little dessert store tucked inside SM Manila cinemas. It serves ice cream swirled with nuts, chocolate, and fruits; whatever topping the buyer might wish, everything is swirled in, thus the store’s name: Swirls. It may be comparable to other dessert shops DQ, Ben & Jerry’s and California Berry but the kicker is its churning of fantastic dessert goodies into rich, firm vanilla sundae. It’s delightful.
Taste-wise, it never wanders from its usual flavor. It's ice cream, damn it. It's supposed to be cold, sweet, and overwhelming. Price is surprisingly cheap. (Note: Despite my love for food and writing, this is not an attempt at food blogging. I suck at it, as you can see. I tend not to be overly dramatic, descriptive, and eloquent about food. It’s food; they are made to be stuffed in the mouth and with that, shouldn’t one be busy of something else than blabbering about it? Some dudes can really be good at it and such, but it’s not my strongest suit. All I can give therefore is a playful juxtaposition on the title. Hee. I should never leave my day job for this.) But in general, it’s a good place to satisfy a sundae fix.
Summertime almost always want me to gobble down delectable ice-cold drinks and desserts. It’s not always healthy but that’s how it is. It’s like Christmas: people make excuses to make it look like it is okay to ratchet up the food bonanza. No incriminations, no repercussions. So the question is: why limit yourself? Indulge.
